i'm just now through watching the leonids, the cloud of dust left over from the Tempel-Tuttle comet. Tempel-Tuttle passed by earth in 1766.... it's really amazing.. it's as though your watching dreams, history, and the heavens burn up in our atmosphere, some leaving behind debris themselves that are whipped away by the upper atmospheric's strong winds (that's where that fade effect comes in) ... one of the most beautiful things i've ever seen.
